January 22 - Another Winter Storm, Seriously???

I was on the phone with my dad today, on my way to hang out with my mom, and he says “so how is this winter storm going to affect you getting back to Boston?”  What??? What winter storm?  At this point, I have 2 more days scheduled off and I planned to go to Boston Wednesday so I could get my passport updated.  ANOTHER winter storm???  I feel like the last several times I’ve gone home, some stupid storm hits the North East and I have to go back early.   I spent the next several hours researching how to get back.  Here’s what happened:

8:00pm Flight– Cancelled
3:00pm Flight – 12 Stand-bys and a completely full flight
7:20am Flight tomorrow – Available.  I sign up.  Next morning, flight is delayed 3 hours and I end up having to sit on the jump seat for 3 hours to Boston.
1:10pm – make it to Boston.  Missed my passport appointment, but I decide to go to the office anyways.  My passport expires in a few weeks, I Have to get it updated.

I get to the Blue Line T station and am waiting in 7 degree weather.  The train doesn’t come for 40 minutes!!  (It’s supposed to come every 5)  OMG, I feel like destiny is against me updating this passport!  What’s the deal?  Then… my cell phone dies.  Have you tried finding your way around without a GPS lately? 

I finally make it to the passport port agency, go through security to get in, upstairs, escorted by police officers and sit down with the passport lady.  “I’m sorry, we’ve already shut down our systems for the day”.  AGHHH!!!  Seriously???  I probably should’ve pushed back a little more about it, but I didn’t.  She signed me up to come in on my day off, Jan 28.  Great.  Hopefully, I can make it then.
