Bangkok Feb 27

Well I struggled to get out of bed this morning.  For the first time on my trip, the temperature in the room was perfect and the giant bed was super comfy.  Oh and ALSO, I was pretty hung over.

I made it down for breakfast at the hotel, which for some reason I didn't take any photo's of, but it was incredible.  Tons of food, custom made omelets, desserts, fresh delish coffee.

I climbed back in bed afterwards, oops.  Poor Shaun just got to Thailand and I stayed in bed most of the morning.  He wandered around, I've no idea what he did, but eventually I went to meet him at an Irish pub he found.  I downed three beers hoping it would help, but no.  Oh well, time to suck it up.

I thought I took a video of this bar but apparently not.

We caught the water taxi and got ripped off.  Apparently, there's a normal water taxi that costs 10 baht and a tourist water taxi that costs 100 baht.  We got on the tourist one.  Crap.  Well it dropped us off near downtown and we were going to meet Evi (my friend from Vietnam)!

Shaun and I explored Wat Saket first and then Evi met us.  We walked to Khaosan Road, the famous party road and I was very underwhelmed.  Our food was way too expensive for what we got too.  It was a very very hot day.

EVIIIIII!!!

Apparently, i didn't even take a photo of Khoasan Road or our food because both were pretty underwhelming.  Oops.  Shaun took some though.

My friend Tim, from Vietnam and Thailand, was also in town today!  So we were texting about all meeting up!

We took the train to China Town, stepping over the tons of homeless people who were living on the sidewalks and streets outside the station, we made our way down some sketchy looking alleys.  The whole area was so quiet until we walked into the bars.  The first place we tried was called Teens of Thailand (TOT), a gin bar.  However, Tim had some friends with him also and there was no way 6 people would fit into this bar.

Next we stepped into Asia Today Cocktail bar and it was freaking cool!  Rooftop bar, but the bottom floor is a coffee shop, which was closed.  You make you way up cast iron winding stairs and the rooftop was absolutely beautiful.  The cocktail drinks were beautiful too!

Tried this beer for dad.  Apparently, the first beer made in Thailand I think

our crew

After the Asia bar, we walked over to 23.  Also a cool bar, but completely divey feeling.  I was a fan.

Last time I'm going to see these guys!

Bye evi!!

Stopped at 7-11 for Toasties!  (they're grilled cheese and ham sandwiches that they heat up at the store for you)
